Lohlunat Festival Turnout Exceeds Expectations
SURAYA BAY, RISA - Easing off from a successful festival, the Risian Tourism Board reports a significant increase in footfall to Risa this year. Local businesses have been thriving, but the strain on Risa’s infrastructure is evident. Transport delays, overbooked accommodations, and strained replicator networks have led to minor unrest among visitors.
“We’ve weathered surges before,” said Tourism Director Vessari Tahl. “But this year, we weren’t just hosting a celebration — we were managing a cultural phenomenon.”
Following from the festival, a review of Federation Traffic Control showed that Castellan Natima Lang’s offer of additional traffic controllers proved to be extremely effective. While the sheer volume of Starship traffic required some diplomatic vessels to be rerouted through secondary lanes, delays were kept to a minimum.
So impressed were the Ferengi with the Cardassian traffic controllers, the Ferengi Alliance now seeks a formal agreement to streamline interstellar trade routes. Critics warn of potential Ferengi monopolization, while some member worlds of the Federation question the Cardassian Union’s growing role in galactic infrastructure.
Klingon House of D’Ghor Accused of Funding Hima Yard Heist
REQUIEM, HIMA - In the aftermath of a daring theft at the Hima Reclamation Yard, investigators are now probing potential links between the stolen vessels and covert funding traced back to the disgraced Klingon House of D’Ghor. The yard, operated by Orion salvagers under loose Imperial Klingon oversight, reported the loss of multiple decommissioned starships belonging to various galactic powers. While sensitive technologies had been removed prior to transfer, the hulls themselves remain valuable assets — especially to parties seeking deniable firepower.
The Heist
- The theft occurred during a major security lapse, with no immediate suspects identified.
- Surveillance logs were tampered with, and several Orion guards are now missing or unaccounted for.
- Among the stolen vessels were two Klingon K’Vort cruisers, a Federation Miranda-class, and a Romulan scout ship.
Once a Great House of the Klingon Empire, the House of D’Ghor fell into disgrace following its leader’s discommendation in 2371 for dishonourable conduct. Since then, the House has operated on the fringes of Klingon society, allegedly engaging in piracy, mercenary work, and black-market dealings.
Analysts suggest the House may be attempting to rebuild its fleet outside the purview of the Klingon High Council.
“D’Ghor has always thrived in chaos,” said Professor K’Tal of the Vulcan Institute for Klingon Studies. “They were opportunists during the Federation-Klingon War, and they remain opportunists now. This heist may be less about power and more about relevance.”
The investigation is ongoing, and the stolen ships remain at large. While the Klingon Empire has denied any official connection to the House’s activities, if House D’Ghor’s involvement is confirmed, it could reignite long-dormant tensions between the Klingon Empire and its neighbours.
