Sorek ( @darthhorvath )

Tollas Davin ( @nynik )
Kara: steps out of her ready room and moves to the replicator, ordering a tea as she makes her way to the center chair, suddenly she wished the Excelsior class tea table caught on. “How goes our patrol?” she asks to the duty officer.
Hydra: ::Lieutenant Buckley to Engineering.::
Shallas: glances at the controls, attempting to ascertain any new developments about the patrol, though she glances deferntially at the first officer before saying anything.
Buckley: tinkered with the panel on the side in the background. It was apparently a good shift for doing maintenance. She tapped her commbadge in annoyance.
Sorek:“Commander, long range scans’ report was compiled by Astrometrics. Lieutenant Goron reports that, I quote, ‘weather is fine, with some local nebular storms’, end quote. We have also detected a limping Eleos-class vessel on its course to Ganalda Station. Earlier this morning USS Tucker reported to have reached the intended colonial site in Dorvanis system.”
Minah: Steps out from the turbolift, once again stealing the use of a console along the back of the bridge.
Kara:Any idea what happened to cause the Eleos to be “limping”?
Hydra:::…Lieutenant Buckley, respond.::
Sorek:“According to Captain Zohl, USS Tucker’s commanding officer, this Eleos-class vessel came across some kind of ion storm discharge deeper within the nebula.”
Buckley:“In the middle of a repair, lassie. If ye want me to leave a wee bit of a leak on the bridge, then I’ll be down in a moment and ye can have the captain up your pèire. Otherwise, have a wee bit of patience.”
Hydra:::…Copy. While you’re up there, ask Lieutenant Commander Sorek for a copy of the taken scans and photos of the Klingon ship.::
Davin: steps onto the bridge with precise, deliberate motion, hands tucked behind the back, eyes scanning the unfamiliar rhythm of the command crew in motion.
Buckley:“Aye. Och! Buckley out!”
Davin: moves toward the science console, offering a respectful nod to the duty officer en route, posture composed but attentive
Minah: looks over at Tollas and gives him a nod, "Welcome aboard Lieutenant.
Kara: takes a few sips from her tea in consideration. “We should take a look at that storm, make sure the Starfleet cartographers have the most up to date information on it. Maybe avoid another ship being hit by it.”
Buckley: winces as she bumps her head. “Commander, Lt. Hydra wants a copy of the scans in engineering.” She withdrew her head from the panel briefly, before going back in.
Davin: turns slightly from the science console, acknowledging T’Minah’s greeting with a small nod in return, posture measured.
Sorek:“Commander, one can appreciate the concern for an ion storm, but I consider this unidentified Klingon ship a higher priority. There ARE other Starfleet vessels operating in this area.”
Shallas: leans over her console, her fingers tapping away as she accesses the ship’s sensors, keeping an eye on the readouts from astrometrics and other science divisions on new findings in the nebula.
Davin:Your welcome is appreciated Sir. Still orienting to alpha shift rhythm… but the pattern is steady enough.
Kara: looks across at Skype then back to Sorek. “Yes, but we’re not seeking it out. Who knows, it might even be related. Stranger things have happened.”
Davin: | A brief pause, then focus returns to the display… though one hand lingers, as if weighing whether to ask something more of T’Minah. He elects not to in proximity of the XO.
Shallas:We have also recieved reports of increasing pirate activity in the areas of space around the nebula.
Minah: halfs turns to face Tollas in conversation, "That is agreeable to hear, adjusting to a different work and life rhythm can be stressfull on the body.
Minah:“Do not forget to stop by medical after your shift for your initial physical.”
Sorek: looks to Shallas. “It would seem recent… multi-Borg multi-verse crisis and Aetherian… change of policy, so to speak, has encouraged this piracy.”
Buckley: hits her head on the way out of the panel again. “Och! I’ve got to get mine, still…” She smirks, rubbing the back of her head, before closing the panel off.
Kara: looks fully to Sorek “See? Pirate activity. That’s what we’re out here for.”
Davin: inclines head once, respectfully, tone calm but earnest in return (to T’Minah) “The adjustment is… not without friction. But strain often reveals imbalance. And imbalance invites correction.”
Sorek: nods. “Yes, Commander, I am aware of that.”
Minah: simply nods in agreement with Tollas, her ears also noting Skye’s response as well, the engineer is already on her red list.
Kara:Lieutenant Commander Shallas, work with navigation to plot a safe course towards the nebula, we can spare a few sensor palettes to get some readings on that storm when we’re in the vicinity.
Hydra: to an extent, is immune to physicals - but she has been forwarding T’Minah copies on her check-ups with her xeno-botanist monitoring her growth and sporing.
Shallas:Aye, Captain.
Shallas: pushes herself up and leans over the helm. She inputs a series of coordinates, and the ship is sent on a course for the T’Ong Nebula that puts the ship closest to the Federation borders.
Buckley:“It’s okay, Laddie. Ye’ll be settlin’ in here well enough… soon enough.” She’d lean in to gently slap Davin’s shoulder on her way past to the turbolift. “Anythin’ else you need from me. captain?”
Shallas:Changing heading to two point four six. Course laid in, sir.
Kara:=C= Bridge to Engineering, we’ll be coming potentially close to a nebula, and maybe an ion storm. Is there anything you can do to improve our chances if we run into any environmental effects?
Minah: finishes what she was doing up here and logs out of this console before returning to the medlab.
Kara: nods to the helm “Engage, Warp 4.”
Hydra:=C= I’d recommend engaging shields and transferring some power to hull plating, sir. For safety I’ll be isolating our EPS conduits and flushing our plasma vents as long as you don’t go above Warp 5 all you’ll feel are some light bumps.
Kara:=C= Acknowledged, slow and steady. Keep us together, Lieutenant.
Buckley:“Hull plating? What is this, 2162?” She grumbles under her breath. “I’ll show you some wee bumps…”
Kara: looks over to Skye “Since you’re here already, see what you can do to bolster our sensors.”
Buckley: opens another panel, adjusting EPS flow. “Aye, captain. Wee bit more power from EPS grid 27-alpha coming up.”
Davin: glances at the ship’s primary nav chart, eyes narrowing at the plotted course toward the T’Ong Nebula. Fingers sweep across his console as he crossreferences with the UFP Astrometrics Relay Net and isolates a series of recent updates.. fluctuations in tetryon density, unusually strong gravimetric shear zones, and a noted incident involving degraded deflector coherence near its outer rim.
Davin: compiles the findings into a concise report. The tone is professional, the phrasing precise. He tags the XO’s terminal directly and sends it silently. It may help give more up to date info.
Sorek: notices the receveing report and opens it, quickly browsing through it.
Kara:FX| Meanwhile the Siva drops out of warp, slowing to impulse just outside the T’Ong Nebula. The swirling reds and browns of the nebula is offset by the occasional blue flash deep within as the ion storm rages within.
Sorek:“Plerion nebula… commonly known as the ion storm.”, he says to no one in particular.
Hydra:=C= Engineering to Bridge. I’ve flushed and shuttered the plasma vents, and our conduits are properly isolated. You are clear to enter.
Davin: steadies against the science console, adjusting field calibration as sensor readings fluctuate under the nebula’s ionised edge.
Shallas: leans forward into the helm, seeking to “peer ahead” for any ships or phenomane in the path of the ship
Buckley: closes off the panel, not wanting to have her hands in it during an ion storm
Kara:=C= Acknowledged, we’ll keep to impulse for now but let you know if we need warp engines at a pinch.
Davin: | The console pulses as new data streams in. Davin’s eyes flick over the numbers, fingers dancing between filters, mapping ion shears, calculating stress potential on the Siva’s shields.
Shallas:I wonder if we’l get to see the parting of the nebula..It’s supposed to happen around this time.
Sorek: reads Davin’s brief. “It seems T’Ong Nebula is as dynamic as every other we have known in these regions.”, he comments quietly, then turns his focus on the main viewer. “Fascinating.”
Davin: notes movement at the helm and briefly shifts sensor output to forward telemetry, overlaying navigational hazard markers atop the visual feed.
Kara:The Klingon border is in there, somewhere. It being in a nebula gives us a bit of extra flexibility, but let’s try not to cross it. We don’t want to antagonise our… Klingon friends.
Davin:Cdr Sorek… Captain… anomaly in the storm pattern. Ion discharge intervals are recurring at regular intervals… 6.1 seconds apart. Natural storms do not pulse with symmetry.
Sorek: stands up and walks over to Davin’s console.
Minah:=C= Medical to bridge: as we enter the nebula, please send down any bridge personnel who may be showing unusual activity, in the event the nebula proves adverse to the health of some individuals.
Davin:Cross-checking against subspace telemetry… there’s low-level resonance coupling at each pulse. That’s… not standard storm physics
Sorek:“Unless they are generated by strong magnetic fields of neutron or pulsar star.”, he adds to Davin. “Low-level resonance coupling? As in a carrier wave?”
Davin: straightens as Sorek approaches, stepping just enough aside to allow the Commander full view of the console display. The overlay now shows a pulsing ring effect, regular, rhythmic…
Davin:The discharge intervals maintain a 6.1 second cadence. It suggests modulation, either artificial in origin, or interacting with a repeating external factor, yes?
Kara:=C= Thank you Doctor, we’ll keep you informed
Davin: nods once, expression sharpening with interest at the Cmdr.’s observation, a welcome challenge.
Sorek:“Communication signal mimicking ion storm dynamics. I do not believe I read upon this kind of… cover-up, as Earthers say.”
Davin:Affirmative, Commander. I see it now, low-level coupling consistent with a carrier signal… amplitude remains stable, but the frequency band shifts slightly every few cycles. Curious even..
Sorek: ponders the situation.
Davin: adjusts the overlay, isolating the drift of the signal’s frequency across a spectral sweep. A faint trace appears, shifting, purposeful
Sorek:"If it were the classic frequency modulation in subspace, there would be no shift. Implying that the source is moving.
Kara: walks towards the view screen and looks to Shallas “Looks like we’ve jumped into the deep end on your first shift, Commander. How are things in Operations?”
Davin: glances up at Sorek, tone even but edged with curiosity. “If this is natural, it is very unique. If not… someone or something moving… could be using the storm as a sort of sensor-veil yes.”
Sorek:“Mister Davin, include subspace Doppler effect in your deconstruction of the signal.”
Davin: inclines head once in silent acknowledgement, hands already moving to comply.
Davin: | The waveform tightens, distortions resolving - a clearer structure begins to form in the signal’s trail. Davin’s fingers slow as the pattern reveals more than expected.
Shallas:Operations are proceeding well, commander. The crew is still settling in, but they do their duty well. Nothing worth reporting has come up.
Shallas:Compared to what’s happned the past few decades, I wouldn’t call an unruly nebula “in the deep” Either..
Davin:Signal origin is not stationary. It’s moving… approximately point-zero-five impulse, bearing 133 mark 22. Estimate… 160,000 km distance. Holding formation just inside the denser nebula field
Sorek:“Lieutenant Buckley, can you… ‘wee’ give us 10% on those sensors?”, he turns briefly to Skye.
Sorek: pronounces ‘wee’ in a Vulcanishly serious fashion
Davin:glances briefly to Cmdr. Sorek again, voice just above a murmur “It must be a ship Sir. I don’t detect a transponder signal… Still no transponder… but that’s a ship. Hidden. And watching.”
Buckley: blinkblinks. “Aye, Commander. Wee bit of extra sensor power coming your way.”
Kara: smirks slightly “Fair enough. A bit more ‘in the deep’ than a simple patrol would have us expect, at least.”
Sorek: looks back to Davin. “An interesting thought, but we have no way to confirm the object’s shape, just the movement, Mister Davin.”, he nods to junior officer.
Buckley: heads over to a console and diverts.
Davin: offers a short nod in return, the gesture modest, acknowledging correction without loss of composure.
Davin:Of course, Cdr. Determining shape would require reflective profile or gravimetric shadowing, neither present at this resolution. I’ll refrain from further extrapolation.
Shallas:So far, it’s downright quiet for a nebula infested with pirates, grumpy Klingons, and anomalies.
Davin: | A flick of Davin’s wrist adjusts the console tuning to accept the additional sensor gain just routed from Engineering.
Shallas:Do you suppose they are preying on the colonists?
Sorek:“Davin, Buckley. Now that we have extra power to sensor gain, what are your thoughts on penetrating deeper into anomaly’s source?”
Sorek:“Namely to determine its shape, beside its movement.”
Kara:I hope not, but we’ll be ready if they are.
Davin:Commander… with the added gain, we may attempt a harmonised sensor pulse. Shaped wide enough to catch secondary scattering, but subtle enough not to alert a cloaked observer
Shallas:Pirates tend to target vulnrable ships with a lot of cargo, and transports for colonial settlement are ideal for that.
Sorek: looks at Skye after nodding to Davin’s proposal.
Kara:That they are.
Davin: glances over to Buckley, a faint, respectful nod, one half of a balance being struck.
Shallas: is not impressed
Shallas:If we havn’t yet.
Davin:With Engineering’s calibration, we could push a low-frequency graviton ping… just enough to trace field displacement. Not true reflection, but we may infer outline
Davin:from the wake it leaves in the ion field.
Shallas:I would suggest we establish a connection with the civillian freighters ferrying cargo to the nebula. They’re on a dangerous flight path as it is, it might help if we ask them to contact us the moment something happens.
Davin:It is not a certainty Sir (to Sorek). But with balance… and caution… we may glimpse what hides behind the storm
Kara:See if you can cut through the interference to set up a link. Maybe we could adapt some probes to act as communication buoys?
Shallas:The ships are constantly on the move. I fear it won’t be quite so simple. Let me think..
Buckley:“Aye, I can… calibrate the sensors, i suppose. I’ll lower frequency to 17.42 ghz in the hopes of cuttin’ through.” Fingers fly across the console. “How’s that doin’ fer ye, laddie?” She asks, peering to Davin.
Shallas: snaps her fingers.
Davin: tilts his head slightly, watching the new feed settle in. Buckley’s calibration sharpening the resolution like a lens wiped clean.
Davin:Impressive. Field noise reduced by nineteen percent. Signal contour is stabilising..
Shallas:With your permission, I can contact the merchant services that provide the ships - The merchant marine primarily - and have them send a ping to any ships going to the nebula.
Shallas:They should have the flight path of all freighters.
Sorek: briefly looks to Kara. “Commander, something we can help with?”
Davin:Pulse will deploy on the storm’s next primary discharge… four seconds. Synchronised for maximum camouflage within the natural resonance.
Davin: | A final tap. The system hums low, the kind of sound only a science officer would find reassuring.
Davin:Pulse away. Awaiting rebound data… now. Filtering echoes…
Kara:FX| A brilliant blue flash erupted from the nebula, and while still far from the Siva, the image on the viewscreen was enough to brighten the bridge considerably.
Sorek: taps into one of arc console to adjust the gamma correction and brightness of the main viewer.
Kara: looks down to shield her eyes from the brightness, while far from blinding, it wasn’t the thing you normally expect.
Shallas: squints. Then immidiately leans down to tune the ship’s sensors to the phenomena and gain as many scans as possible, forwarding any results to teh science station for analysis.
Sorek: begins the multispectral Fourier analysis as soon as Shallas sends the raw data.
Davin: | After the flash, his eyes adjusting fast… slowly, a faint outline begins to emerge in Davin’s readings. It’s blurred… broken by storm interference… but real.
Davin:Commander… displacement pattern consistent with mid-size vessel. Signature curvature suggests elongated hull… not Federation design. Possibly Klingon… or Romulan in origin. Shape unclear…
Davin:… but it is a ship
Kara:FX| As the light subsides, the edges of the nebula directly ahead took on a new appearance, flowing almost like water, deeper in the reds and browns of the nebula became a more consistent cool blue.
Sorek:“Mister Davin, corralet anything you have on the shape with reports we received about the rogue Klingon vessel.”
Davin: focus sharpens as the nebula’s colours shift… turbulent reds giving way to a cooler, unnatural blue ahead. The data streaming in is unlike any typical plasma field behaviour.
Davin:Correlating now, Commander. +
Sorek: then looks at the main viewer. “Different coloring, different spectral response.”
Davin:Pulling tactical silhouettes from recent piracy alerts logged near the Klingon neutral sectors… matching curvature, propulsion geometry, and hull length estimates. The computer is having a hard time
Shallas:Pirates would not light a nebula up like a christmas tree.
Sorek:“Did our harmonised pulse cause a detonation?”
Davin: | As quickly as it came, the serene blue recedes… swallowed once more by the nebula’s familiar churn of rust-red clouds and volatile currents.
Sorek:“Mister Davin, your thoughts on possible ship?”
Sorek:“You mentioned it could Romulan or Klingon? That would make a usage of cloaking device almost an absolute certainty.”
Davin: | The results appear with a soft chirp in front of Davin… one silhouette overlays with a 47% confidence: an outdated but heavily modified K’Vort-class Bird of Prey.
Kara:No they would not. Yellow alert.
Davin: | Hull taper, nacelle spacing, and mass estimate align - imperfectly, but notably.
Davin:Tentative match, Commander. K’Vort-class Bird of Prey… heavily modified. Confidence at just 47% percent. Enough to warrant caution… not confirmation
Kara:Commander Shallas, you mentioned the parting of the nebula. It’s doubtful we’d be lucky enough to catch it as it naturally occured, but could that be the cause of the activity?
Kara:What else do you know about the phenomenon?
Davin: refines the overlay slightly, adjusting for known Klingon retrofits, torpedo bay extensions, power rerouting nodes, cloak baffle upgrades. The shape remains close… too close to ignore.
Davin: narrows the spectral window, replaying the moment of the flare… frame by frame, separating the ion burst from the visual shift that followed.
Sorek:"K’vort class is rather old as you pointed out. I am having difficult time believing it could survive for long in ion storm, however. But it IS our running hypothesis. Check what you can on this+
Sorek:and forward it to Tactical."
Davin:Clarification, Cdr. The vessel was briefly visible because of the pulse.. indirect illumination from the discharge. But the bluish transformation of the nebula itself… that was something else
Shallas:If it were, we should be seeing it part, Captain. According to records, every three years the nebula parts as a result of the mycelial crisis of 2418.The phenomena attracts scientists and major scholars from all over, but as far as I know, there is no specific date on which it occurs.
Davin: gives a crisp nod, already rerouting the compiled telemetry, displacement readings, and silhouette match data into a formal analysis packet.
Sorek:"Noted, Lieutenant.
Davin:Understood, Cdr. Consolidating findings.. Forwarding to Tactical now..
Shallas:As for triggering it artificially…Unlikely. Not impossible, however. It started artificially, after all.
Kara:Can you run a scan for a mycelial energy signature?
Shallas:Of course, Captain.
Davin: | With the packet away, Davin leans slightly over the console, watching the storm twist once more, as if waiting for the next move in a quiet game of shadows.
Shallas: lowers herself over the ops console, directing the Siva’s sensors. She starts inputting a complex series of commands, scanning for a very particular strand of funghi..
Shallas:Tuning sensors for extradimensional spores..
Kara: looks back to Sorek “Commander, I overheard you mention the nebula had a pulse cycle. Is that still going?”
Sorek:“Rather something within the nebula, Commander. Pulse cycle of 6.1 seconds, according to Mister Davin’s analysis.”
Shallas:If we get closer, perhaps we can detect the ship in question. If it is still working.
Sorek: turns to Davin. “Is cycle still going on, Lieutenant?”
Davin:Storm behaviour remains erratic… yet this cycle endures yes Sir.
Sorek:“If we move further in, Commander, I suggest we inform the engineering to make sure they can properly compensate the shield modulation.”
Davin:I can prepare a predictive shield stress model using the nebula’s pulse rhythm as baseline. If the storm’s cycle holds, we can time shield modulation to ride the waveform, rather than resist it.
Davin:Commander… Captain… I spoke out of turn. My input was not requested.
Shallas: blinks. As the console blinks in confirmation, Sh’Lyna leans over it in clear surprise.
Shallas:Scan complete. There IS a mycelial reading when the pulse happned. In higher concentrations then would be naturally occuring.
Sorek:=C= “Bridge to Main Engineering. This is Sorek. Be advised we may take the ship further into the nebula. Be ready to make necessary adjustments to shield modulations.”
Sorek:“If I am summarising all the facts thus far, we and at least one more ship are investigating a possible mycelial signal.”
Shallas:Or said ship is causing it.
Hydra:=C= “Necessary… what? Uh, copy, just send your frequencies to my terminal.”
Kara:But are we causing it, or them? Sorek, can you run through the steps you carried out before the big pulse?
Sorek:=C= “Liutenant Davin will send recommneded modulation code, based on our readings up here. Review it at your discretion.”
Davin: gives a silent nod, acknowledging the Cdr’s instruction without delay.
Hydra:=C= “Understood, but I’m still a little out of the loop. I’ll be coming to the bridge in 5.”
Sorek:"Mister Davin, I have one more request. Prepare the necessary adjustments to reinforce the pulse signal you have created. We may need to… uncloak that ship.
Davin: turns his head slightly toward Sorek, expression unreadable, though his hands are already moving, the pulse waveform reappears on his console.
Davin:Acknowledged, Commander. Strengthening pulse signal…
Davin:Modulating phase harmonics…
Davin:.. and increasing amplitude within tolerable bounds
Kara:Commander Shallas, prepare for a second burst. See if you can identify the source of the mycelial signal, maybe we can work out what’s going on here.
Davin:Sir, I’m not certain that this will breach a cloak… but it may disrupt their veil if they rely more on the nebula’s resonance for concealment..
Davin:the reinforced signal will cast shadows they cannot control
Sorek:"It will be sufficient, Lieutenant.
Sorek:=C= “Bridge to Sickbay. Doctor T’Minah, any requests from the crew on your end?”
Minah:=C= “Nothing out of the ordinary, all seems well so far. By the sound of your inquiry, should we be expecting somthing?”
Hydra:“You should have warned me we were passing through a spore field - could have set up some filters.”
Sorek:=C= “Given we might have a hostile vessel, there is a probability for your department’s skills.”
Minah:=C= “We appreciate the notification.”
Shallas: nods and her fingers manipulate the controls deftly, taking DAVIN’s last actions and prepearing a second pulse. “Aye Captain. Ready on your command.”
Sorek:=C= “Most satisfactory, Doctor. Bridge out.”
Buckley:“I believe that was included in the shield frequency adjustements, Hydra.”
Hydra: unsubtly peers over Davin’s shoulder, getting herself caught up.
Kara: returns to her chair.
Hydra:“You believe incorrectly - I was largely only apprised of a, uh… storm pulse?”
Kara:=C= All hands, brace for turbulence.
Buckley: gropes the underside of her console in a bracing maneuver.
Sorek: grips the arc.
Hydra: is too far from any consoles to brace properly.
Minah: finds a chair in medical and fastens the seat belt
Kara:Initiate the pulse.
Davin: executes the command with a single precise motion. The science console hums as the reinforced pulse sequence deploys
Davin: braces with one hand on the console edge, the other hovering over the sensor display. Eyes fixed on the waveform. Breath even. ‘Balance in all things’ he says audibly but low.
Kara:FX| Once again, a brilliant blue flash erupted from the nebula, the Siva’s actions were the cause before as they were now. This time, the bridge retained its brightness as countermeasures had been deployed.
Kara:FX| Despite Siva being closer to the nebula than before, and all in all, the pulse was rather anticlimatic.
Kara:FX| A few minor nudges were easily countered by the inertial dampners, at most someone might’ve stumbled if they were already mid-movement.
Shallas: leans forward to run a scan for any nearby vessels in the wake of the pulse, even as the ship is rocked by it..
Sorek: observes tha main viewer with interest.
Hydra: still only weighs as much as, like, a twelve-year-old, so they are still disproportionately affected by turbulence.
Hydra: simply loses their balance.
Kara:FX| After a few seconds, a blue wave of low energy mycelium coursed through the nebula, splitting a path through the nebula as had been observed three years ago.
Shallas:Look! Was that us? ..I hope it wasn’t us. I don’t think meddling with natural phenomena is quite what was meant to happen
Hydra:“Forgive me for still being out of the loop - we’re trying to follow a mycelium trail?”
Sorek:“That is correct.”
Buckley:“Aye lassie, the nebula is partin’. Bonnie sight.”
Sorek:“It wasn’t natural to begin with, Miss Shallas.”
Minah:=C= “Medical to bridge, I advise an increase in time from warning to action next time when given the option. Gives the crew not near a point of safety to seek a point of safety to brace.”
Davin: watches the flare subside into something far stranger: a wave. Not violent. Not bright. But purposeful. A soft, blue current threading its way through the nebula like a seam drawn in silk.
Hydra:“If all you need to do is follow it, there’s an easier way than sending out electromagnetic pulses.”
Shallas:Captain! Reman vessel showing on sensors near the centre of what appears to be a mycelial rift.
Buckley:“Aye, but how would we fry sinn-seanmhair’s antique pacemaker?”
Davin: ’s hands move, shifting sensor focus toward the newly identified contact. He pulls raw telemetry into isolation, enhancing the signal against residual storm interference.
Shallas:I can. Given the effort they took to conceal themselves though, is that wise without closing into range?
Kara:Our shields are still up aren’t they?
Buckley:“Cannae emagine our allies wantin’ teh kip us in the bollocks.”
Kara:Most Remans joined Obisek and the Republic, there’s a good chance that ship belongs to our allies too.
Sorek:“Spore dust interfering with cloak.”, he says as he reads the data stream.
Kara: looks back to Skye “Yeah, that.”
Davin: quietly tags the Reman vessel’s position with a containment arc, tracking both its proximity to the rift and the interference from spore particulate. He routes the updated readings to Ops & Tactical
Shallas: glances over at Kara. She shrugs, and though visibly in disagreement, she nevertheless gives the telltale ping as she tries to open a hailing frequency.
Shallas:Hailing frequencies open..
Hydra:“…I’ll just return to engineering in case they try something.”
Sorek:“Very well, Lieutenant.”
Davin: | The hailing ping echoes softly across the bridge. As it does, Davin’s console lights with fresh correlation, the Reman vessel’s now-visible profile aligning with the earlier displacement pattern.
Kara:Attention Reman vessel, this is Commander Kara Blake of the United Federation of Planets Starship, U.S.S. Siva. Do you respond?
Davin: | The match is undeniable. Davin taps once, quietly linking the current contact ID with the prior signal signature, confirming what the team had only suspected before.
Davin: turns slightly toward Cmdr. Sorek, offering a simple report in a clear, low tone. +
Kara:FX| The Reman vessel remains cloaked, and no response comes back. It makes no movements of any kind.
Davin:Cdr. The earlier sensor contact… it was this vessel. Our initial match failed due to signature suppression and partial cloak bleed-through. Identification now confirmed.
Kara:Commander is it possible the nebula interference is blocking the transmission? Even with the clearer path?
Davin: watches the signal channel remain silent, no return ping, no shift in position. The vessel sits within the rift’s edge like a stone in still water, too still. Their situation is unbalanced.
Sorek:“Thank you for that clarification, Lieutenant Davin.”, he nods to the Deferi then turns to Kara. "I cannot say for certain, Commander. Remans are known for their ‘leave us alon’ way of behavior.+
Sorek:Perhaps they are deliberatley ignoring us, hoping we will leave them alone."
Buckley:“D’yeh ken if they’ve shields, Davin?”
Shallas:They could be in distress.
Sorek:“Unless they are following the logic of Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal: if we don’t see them, they assume they don’t see us and vice versa.”, he offers seriously.
Davin: glances up at Buckley’s question, tapping a control to rerun the passive scan. The readings are faint… but something is there.
Davin:Unconfirmed, Lieutenant. Energy readings are minimal no active shield harmonics detected. It’s possible their shields are down… or operating in a low-power modulation beyond our detection threshold.
Sorek:“What about their communications systems. Can we assess if they are operational in that part?”
Buckley:“Sounds like they might need assistance.” She gripped her console eagerly. Ground team go!
Kara: looks back to Skye. “I think they do. Mr Sorek, please prepare an away team.”
Sorek:“Understood, Commander. Buckley, Davin and Doctor T’Minah will come with me on the away.”
Davin: remains silent… awaiting orders. Whether he joins the team or supports from the bridge will be decided by others. For now, his role is clear: prepare, and observe.
