Risa Sector Prepares for Tourist Season
SURAYA BAY, RISA - As Risa prepares to enter the tourist season, Federation traffic controllers are expected to process an increase of up to 250% the usual traffic through the Risa sector, with multiple civilian and military starships expected to make the pilgrimage towards Risa at what is expected to be one of the busiest seasons of the past decade.
A contributing factor to the increase in traffic is the unsubstantiated rumours that the Zebulon Sisters will be holding a farewell tour, starting at Risa, while simultaneously adding a fourth Chu to the infamous Chu Chu Chu dance which has been banned from performance on all active Starfleet vessels by Admiral Edward Jellico since 2381, a ban which has remained in place for 44 years.
In an effort to assist with the increase in traffic, Castellan Natima Lang of the Cardassian Union has offered to shore up Federation traffic controllers with skilled controllers from the Union.
Yoyodyne Propulsion Denies Whistle Blower Claims
COPERNICUS CITY, LUNA - In response to an earlier story regarding claims of a former employee of Yoyodyne Propulsion that the engine manufacturer had been conducting risky experimentation with both Borg and Aetherian technologies, a Yoyodyne spokesperson released a statement today disputing the validity of these accusations:
“This particular person had been let go weeks ago for a failure to complete their work and for being disruptive to their fellow employees. The fact that they only now have decided to come forward, after repeated failed attempts at resecuring their employment with the company, make it clear that this is at best misguided or at worst vindictive.”
Yoyodyne Propulsion is one of the Federation’s greatest success stories. During the early formation of the Federation, the company operated as one of Starfleet’s principle contractors throughout the 22nd, 23rd and 24th centuries, iterating and refining the Archer-Cochrane Warp Engine technology throughout the years.
In the 25th century, while still the principle contractor of Starfleet, Yoyodyne had begun to expand to the galactic market, opening development and production facilities on the worlds of many members of the Khitomer Alliance, the most notable addition being the Cardassian Union, leading to the development of highly efficient and cheap to produce warp cores which are seen on many civilian vessels throughout the four quadrants.
Hima Reclamation Yard Suffers Theft of Multiple Vessels
REQUIEM, HIMA - Following a major security breach at an Orion Reclamation yard on Hima, several vessels pending decommission belonging to multiple galactic powers have been stolen by an unknown party. Investigators have been trying to piece together how such an egregious lapse in security could have happened, but so far no leads have been presented.
While classified and smaller pieces of powerful technology are removed by the various governments before the vessels are delivered to the reclamation yards, larger scale technologies such as integrated weapons and propulsion systems remain in the vessels to be removed at the reclamation yard.
This is the largest breach suffered at the Hima Reclamation Yard since disgraced Captain Dorg of the Klingon Defence Force authorised the release of several vessels to Pakled custody in 2380, resulting in the conflict between the Federation and Pakled Empire and the loss of the USS Solvang.
No staff of the Hima Reclamation Yard provided comment.
