The Siva is departing from DS9, now on our way back along route 528 towards Cardassia to pick up a supply of Industrial Replicators, destined for the yards at Aldebaran. Our journey back is peppered with a small trip to Betazed to pick up some weather control satellites and drop off Ensign Nyaput for his wedding. Just in time for a quick layover in Minos Korva to pick up self-sealing stem bolts so the VSS T’Veek can continue its surveys of the Betreka Nebula unimpeded. It’s exciting stuff.
I’m sure I almost caught Sorek off guard with a joke, but he’s staying stone faced. It’ll happen eventually!
Doing a “milk run” wasn’t quite how I anticipated my first anniversary of command, but our work is important to the bigger picture, especially with the recent collapse of the Confederacy of Azed, rumours of Borg reigniting and the usual aspect of star bound piracy. At least it lets us run in the engines after our maintenance layover.
If we stay ahead of schedule, we might be able to nip between the Maelstrom and run some combat exercises at Starbase 12 to bed the rest of the systems in place, a little treat for our outgoing crew once we get home to DS13.
While our last encounter was far from hostile, I’m hoping to avoid a run in with the Anne Bonny, I’m sure Captain Bodin noticed my disapproval and I’d rather avoid a potential reprisal. Not that I’m sure if I’d even realise it would happen before it was too late.
For now, we will keep on keeping on, I did at least manage to pick up a nice enough bottle of Spring Wine at DS9 before we departed, we’ll have to see what that buys me!
