Biographical Information
T’Vella was born on Vulcan to Captain T’Ranna of the U.S.S. Independence. She spent her childhood there until the age of 18, when she immediately applied to Starfleet Academy to join her mother.
She spent several years as a security officer aboard the U.S.S. Dover, becoming Assistant Security Chief.
The Dover encountered a gravitational anomaly in early 2271, which pulled the ship inside. All shuttles and escape pods were launched, however, and the crew were all recovered. T’Vella was the last out, ensuring that the remainder of her crew escaped before beaming herself into one of the escaping shuttles. She was awarded the Christopher Pike Medal of Valor, the first of two times receiving said award. Afterwards, she transferred to the U.S.S. Paris as Security Chief.
T’Vella developed a close relationship with her captain Claire Victoire, who spoke fondly of her even after her transfer to the U.S.S. Independence as First Officer in 2271. She would remain on the Independence until her destruction in 2284, before taking command of the U.S.S. Independence-A. She would remain as the vessel’s commander until its decommission in 2342 and her subsequent retirement to focus on raising her daughter.
In 2371, in the midst of the Dominion War, T’Vella was returning from visiting her daughter Dr. T’Saavok on Deep Space Nine when her ship the U.S.S. Hellas was set upon by a Jem’Hadar ambush. The bridge was hit, taking out the majority of the command crew. T’Vella was forced to reactivate herself and take command in order to save the ship and crew. She was awarded the Christopher Pike Medal of Valor for her actions, and remained in command of the Hellas through the duration of the war, before joining Starfleet Intelligence.
