Biographical Information
Born as a second post-Occupation generation of Bajoran children in Tempasa, Rasha grew up in a family as a third of five children. His paternal grandparents were members of Shakaar Resistance Cell during the Cardassian Occupation. His parents are running an alva fruit farm. A wanderer from his earliest age, he was encouraged by his two older brothers to move from Tempasa to Ashalla and attend the Constabulary School. After solving a serial burglar crime in Ashalla Fifth District he was quickly promoted from Officer to Corporal, in 2417.
As Tzenkethi began their destructive crusade, Bajoran government invited young Bajorans to join Bajoran Militia or enroll in Starfleet Academy and, again at the encouragement of his brothers but against the wishes of his mother, Rasha became a SFA Cadet, graduating in 2421. During the Hurq Crisis, he was stationed aboard Deep Space 9, to which he returned upon graduation.
At the beginning of Aetherian/Borg Crisis, he was transferred to USS Liberty, Ross-class, under Captain Kee’ren Shissar and remained on this post for nearly three years. For the most part, Liberty patrolled region of space between Trill, Bajor and Cardassia, always keeping Rasha close to his home. In a sudden change of mind, however, Rasha requested a transfer to Starbase Tempest in Centaurus-A galaxy.
After a lengthy conversation with him and his Captain, Kee’ren Shissar agreed to transfer though it remains unknown what prompted such a sudden change. Captain Shissar only mentioned that Gelar’s decision was founded in deep personal consideration.
