Admiral,
I regret to inform you that the A.F.S Archangel is being recalled to the Alliance Fleet Yards.
Unfortunately there seems to be a critical design flaw in the ships construction that prevents the A.F.S Archangel functioning to the fullest of it’s abilities.
During the recent mission to help locate the USS Shackleton, the AFS Archangel was in the vicinity of a Breen Dreadnought.
For some reason this Breen ship was able to detect our presence even through our cloak and reduced power output.
The closest vessels in our task force were 10ly away so their presence had no baring on what occurred. The Breen vessel opened a communication channel deliberately meant for us.
After the Shackleton incident I had my Engineering teams go over the ship from bow to stern to identify the issue and see if it could be rectified.
Unfortunately there seems to be a crucial error in the construction of the cloaking device and its interaction with a particular method of construction on the support struts of the port Wing.
This leaves the ship vulnerable to detection. I have already notified Alliance Fleet Command and they of course have offered their apologies that a vessel intended for use in your area of Operation has fallen short of expectations.
A skeleton crew has been assigned to oversee the transfer of the ship back to the fleet yards.
With that in mind Starfleet Intelligence have fortunately kept the USS Archangel free, thanks in part to my assignment to the AFS Archangel being considered temporary.
The USS Archangel will be returned to full service in the coming days and be ready for deployment as you require.
