Biographical Information
Ro’vani was a Vulcan orphan on Narcissus III, and raised almost entirely by the local Academy. She always struggled with the strict adherence to logic, but was able to frequently lose herself in academics allowing her to frequently pass in society. When the time came to choose her path as an adult, she opted for Starfleet. She graduated in 2334. Despite her love of academics, she had frequent discipline notes. She was prone to fighting, especially other Vulcan’s, who would belittle her over her “struggles with logic.”
She entered Starfleet as a Science Officer and worked in weapons development for Starfleet. She was eventually encouraged to shift to a command track, and in 2366, she took command of the USS Ural, a Miranda class ship. A year later, she lost that ship at the Battle of Wolf 359 and was presumed KIA.
In 2407, Ro’Vani was liberated from a Borg Cube in Romulan Space. She eventually made her way back to the Federation, but those who knew her struggled to get along with or even understand who she was as an Ex-Borg. Her commission was briefly reinstated, which she held for less than a month. Concerns about an undocumented 8 month period between liberation and arrival in the Federation made the brass weary of Romulan conditioning.
Galactic Energy Corporation stepped in and hired her to work on weapon development. She’d make a name for herself as she adapted first Lukari, and then later Aetherian weapon systems to operate on Federation spec warp cores and power systems.
Recently the GEC, Vulcan Science Academy, and Starfleet entered a joint project to test and deploy a wider range of experimental equipment. The V.S.S. T’Laini was commissioned by the VSA, with joint funding from Starfleet and GEC. The keel was laid down in a GEC shipyard in the Narcissus system, and was overseen by Ro’Vani.
When it came time to put her into service, Starfleet and GEC both thought Ro’Vani would be a good fit to command the ship. She already possessed active security clearances from Starfleet, and knowledge of the equipment. The GEC knew she was their woman, and trusted her to make the best decisions for the interests of GEC. The Science Academy opposed her, but ultimately failed to prevent her from being given command of the T’Laini.
She did not accept her previous Captain pips, resulting in Starfleet giving her a provisional Warrant Officer rating, and positional authority over Starfleet personal assigned to the T’Laini. The majority the T’Laini crew are GEC employees.
